This piece is an abstract volume that shows us Ortiz Monasterio's shift towards compositions that denote a careful observation of the Mayan reliefs and above all the incorporation of color through a patina of color. Often, we see ancient sculpture revealing its materiality in stone or clay and forget that most of these works were painted in vivid colors. Ortiz Monasterio was interested in this polychrome aspect and incorporated it into his work in various experiments, such as this composition that reminds us of pictograms and glyphs, a writing.
